Horses are domesticated for various purposes, most common of them is travelling and carrying load. The evolution of this mammal started approximately 45-55 million years ago. A healthy horse can drink as much as 10 gallons of water everyday. They utilize the facial expressions for communication. Interestingly, their energy is most spent while they are lying down. The horse’s hoof is like fingernail that has to be clipped because of its growth. They also show a range of color, like black, brown, gray, or cream. The baby horse, a foal can walk in mere one to two hours from its birth. Babies are fully grown within four years.

The male horse is called stallion, female a mare, father of horse is known as sire and mother as dam. In North America, a breed is also known as Mustangs. Also, the smallest breed is Argentina’s Falebella. The smallest pony, “Little Pumpkin”, weighed 20 lbs and stood 14 inches. Contrary to this, Samson was recorded tallest horse.
